The prices of the G63 AMG by Mercedes-Benz have been raised nearly by ₹75 lakh
Mercedes-Benz, the German luxury automaker, has increased the price of its popular G63 AMG super SUV by a staggering Rs 85 lakh in India. The top-of-the-line G63 AMG variant of the G-Class now costs Rs 3.3 crore (ex-showroom), up from its previous price of around Rs 2.45 crore. Mercedes brings this model to India via the Completely Built Unit (CBU) route and offers it in limited numbers. The company recently announced that additional units of the G63 have been made available for MAY2023 and will first be offered to existing Mercedes owners before new clients.
The second generation of the Mercedes G63 AMG, the W463, was launched in India in 2018 with a price tag of Rs 2.19 crore. A few years later, the price increased to Rs 2.45 crore before reaching the current price of Rs 3.3 crore. The Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG, also known as the G-wagon, is available in two variants in India – the entry-level G350d and the top-spec G63. The G350d variant is powered by a smaller 3-liter, six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that produces 282 Bhp of peak power and 600 Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with a 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
Meanwhile, the more expensive G63 variant is powered by a Biturbo V8 engine that generates a maximum output of 585 PS and a maximum torque output of 850 Nm. It comes mated to a 9-speed Tiptronic automated gearbox. Famous worldwide for its robust boxy silhouette and tank-like appearance, the G-wagon is one of the most popular high-end Mercedes-Benz models globally. The SUV is a favorite of numerous celebrities and people associated with large businesses and positions of power. The model has also become synonymous with prestige and power and has been associated with the mafia over the years.
In India, numerous celebrities own the Mercedes G-Wagon, including Hardik Pandya, Sunil Shetty, Shilpa Shetty, Amrita Rao, Rohit Shetty, Janhavi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Pavan Kalyan, Dulquer Salmaan, Malayalam actor Prithviraj, and Shreyas Iyer. The Ambani family is the single biggest owner of the G Wagons in India, owning a total of 7 White Mercedes G63 AMGs, while Amit Singh, the owner of the popular Fusion Gym in India, purchased a second Mercedes-AMG G63 after buying the first one in 2021. Additionally, Dinesh Thakkar, Chairman and Managing Director of Angel One stockbroking company, owns a previous generation of the G wagon finished in a unique shade of orange, which was a limited edition model.
