    Exciting news for car enthusiasts in India! Honda has announced its future plans for the Indian market, and it includes launching a new mid-size SUV by mid-2023. The new model will sit alongside the recently launched facelifted City as the flagship model for the brand in India.

    While not much is known about the upcoming SUV, it is expected to feature styling similar to the Honda HR-V currently on sale in the international market. The car will come equipped with both petrol and hybrid powertrain options along with the recently introduced Honda Sensing Technology as standard on top-end models.

    Honda expects to sell more vehicles in the Indian market in 2024 than its rivals with the launch of the City facelift and the new mid-size SUV. The brand currently offers the Amaze, City, WR-V, and Jazz in India, with the first two accounting for almost 60% of the total sales. However, the lack of a popular SUV has affected the brand adversely over the last few years. The new mid-size SUV is expected to be the missing key to stop the sales slump.

    Ahead of the mid-size SUV’s launch, Honda is also investing Rs 260 crores in its customer interface of its showroom, which will be rolled out later this year. The company is planning to grow faster than last year with the new launches. The automaker’s manufacturing plant in Tapukara, Rajasthan is also going to increase its daily production limit from 540 vehicles to 660 vehicles starting from April 2023 when Honda is closer to launching the new SUV.

    But that's not all, Honda is also planning to launch premium models via the CBU or CKD route in India to help reinforce the brand in the country. The automaker stated that the market is going up in terms of product prices and Honda is going to keep focusing on the premium end.
